Sopa de Nadal: A dish full of history and love

Celebrate the festive season with the authentic taste of Mallorca! At Ramaders Agrupats, we are delighted to share with you the traditional recipe for Sopa de Nadal (Christmas soup), a dish full of history and love.

Ingredients you will need (you can find them in our stores):

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 1 Botifarró
  • 150g sobrasada (Mallorcan cured sausage)
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery branches
  • 2 potatoes
  • 100g peas
  • 100g thick noodles
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for decoration

Steps to prepare:

Broth preparation:

  • In a large pot, boil the chicken with the onion, carrots, celery, and salt. Cook it over low heat for approximately 1 hour until the chicken is tender, and the broth has infused with the flavors.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred it. Reserve the broth.
  • Sauté preparation: in a separate pan, cook the Mallorcan sausage and sobrasada over medium heat until they are lightly browned. Add this mixture to the previously prepared broth.
  • Add the vegetables and noodles: Cut the potatoes into wedges and add them to the broth along with the peas and noodles. Cook for about 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the noodles are cooked.
  • Time to serve!: Place the soup in deep bowls, add the shredded chicken, and decorate with a touch of fresh parsley.
